You Make Me Blush

While typically a very feminine color, blush is making its way on the home furnishing scene and quickly becoming the new neutral.  From the Paris runways to couture wall paper, the color du jour is the oh- so- sweet ultra-pale pink shade known as blush.

This haute trend is easy to fit into your home and your budget.  Update with smaller accessories like throw pillows, frames, trays, vases or simply a bouquet of flowers.

If you are more daring you can paint a wall or go the distance with a bold piece of furniture.

Our favorite mate for this chic girly color is navy.  It’s a perfect contrast that keeps this ultra femme shade balanced.  Try a pink throw across a navy sofa, or small blush pillow on a navy chair.

Blush also plays well with gray, black and beige.  Just a touch paired with these neutrals can add the ideal pop without overdoing this ladylike trend.

Our Jigsaw designers set out in search for the perfect blush; we believe we found it by Benjamin Moore, Sandblast #2103-50.

We hope you are as tickled pink as we are with this fun and feminine hue.

Pink is not just for Barbie anymore.  2016 is fairing a very fine start for this ladylike hue.  Launching these girly vibes into the new year were top celebs on the Golden Globe red carpet.  While these divas rocked these gorgeous frocks,  the Jigsaw designers will take you down the red carpet in home decor in their pretty pink shades.

Kate Hudson nude w touch of pink

Kate Hudson dazzled in her nude meets blush beaded dress reminiscent of I Dream of Jeanine.  This soft muted tone is so neutral is can be used on a grand scale or little touches.  Like this fun puckered lips print found on etsy. Playing well with most colors, but we find it especially fun with bright yellow in this lighthearted kids space.

Alway chic and somewhat avant-guard is the lovely Cate Blanchett.

Her 20’s vibe with oodles of fringe in pale pink turned heads as usual.  The sheen of her dress and the era are reflected in this gorgeous bedroom with pale pink walls, velvet headboard and curtains.  We are also loving this pale pink glam velvet sofa with clean lines making the shape more flexible for different genres of style.

Leslie Mann won our hearts in the blush category contrary to famed Perez Hilton’s opinion.

While silk chiffon in blush was complimented by delicate beading, the Jigsaw Design team like to rock this girly color with studs.  For example this headboard with nailheads also found on Etsy.  Likewise, taking this delicate color to new heights like the cloud geometric print by Lola and Lila could we a lovely finishing touch to your space.

However having a lifetime love affair with Christian Dior we are feeling the bubble gum pink of Katy Perry’s dress, we can’t say the same for the silhouette…sorry Dior…

On the other hand, we can’t get enough of this bubble gum Eames Ball chair.  For the more conservative side, try a classic Chippendale style chair in this timeless color.

Pretty in Navy and Pink

While being dawned by the A list celebs at the Oscars, these oh-so-complimentary colors have been a match made in interior design heaven.  Navy and pink are the perfect partners where masculine meets feminine in the home.  This stunning pair exudes balance and harmony in a spectacular fashion.

Navy is a powerful color that is associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes confidence, trust, wisdom, intelligence, faith, and truth.  While pink is a symbol of love and associated with nurturing and compassion.   Therefore the strength of a navy room is perfectly balanced with the delicate softness of pink.  Take this living room for example.  It is a dynamic room with a bold navy patterned rug, navy walls and furniture.  Alone, this would be a navy overdose, but it appears completely balanced with the perfect placement of the pink pillows and framed artwork.

Living room

Too much of a good thing isn’t always the best.  Layering navy and pink with other colors is an easy way to get the look without committing every item in your space to these two colors.  In the next two photos these bedrooms have neutrals mixed in to soften the look.  The gray pillows in the first room help mellow the bold navy and pink.   Likewise, the gold color pillows in the second image help break up the intensity of this compelling color combo.

The best foundation color to pop the navy and pink is crisp white.  Whether it’s mixed into a pattern or the color of the largest piece of furniture in the room, this base color is necessary for the two colors to be displayed in all their glory.  If you are drawn to this look and want to try trend but not make a huge investment, then try starting with navy and pink as accent colors on a mostly white backdrop.  Navy and pink throw pillows on a white sofa, with pink flowers in a vase on the table are the perfect start.   White bedding with navy and pink pillows and navy curtains is another more disposable way to get the trend without overkill.

Navy and pink together are refreshing and full of energy.  This color combo is a happy one and we know it will affect your mood.  Who wouldn’t feel blissful sitting at this gorgeous navy and pink make up table?  What a great place to start the day, and what a great time for a navy and pink update.
